One of the most effective ways LECET Mid-Atlantic develops project and job opportunities for signatory contractors and LiUNA members is by building relationships with contractors, owners, users of construction services, and key decision makers. Among the dozens of owners and contractors with whom LECET built and maintained contact in 2011 were:
- The American Group Constructors (TAG)
- Clayco Corporation
- Occidental Petroleum subsidiary OcciChem
- SAK Construction
The Mid-Atlantic Laborers’ Cooperation Trust established, and began to market, the Manpower Advantage Program (MAP), a workforce recruitment service for contractors bidding on projects in North Carolina. The program was designed to help LiUNA capitalize on more than $30 billion worth of upcoming construction projects in North Carolina, to build market share in the state, and to build relationships with non-signatory contractors.
Through all of these activities, signatory contractors and LiUNA won work on more than $17 billion worth of construction projects throughout the United States and Canada, including such multi-billion-dollar projects as the Camp Williams Data Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
